Product Details

Original Item: Only One Available. This is a very nice service worn WW2 USMC US Marine Corps P44 USMC Combat Field Utility Jacket in Olive Drab. It is named in stencil to "A. J. ANDERSON". The name is stenciled on the back with “ANDERSON” stenciled on the front, which is rather uncommon. This loose fitting sage green herringbone twill (HBT) cotton jacket features, original blacked brass "doughnut hole" USMC buttons which still show some original black, breast pocket and stenciled black USMC EGA insignia.

This tunic example is featured in Jeff Warner’s book “Sailors In Forest Green” on page 198. Unfortunately due to the common name of Anderson, we have not been able to locate any specific service information, making this a wonderful research candidate!

Comes more than ready for further research and display.

Approx. Measurements:
Collar to shoulder: 12”
Shoulder to sleeve: 22”
Shoulder to shoulder: 20”
Chest width: 23”

The P44 Jacket was the second Utility Jacket the Marine Corps patterned during WW2, and replaced the earlier P41 Utility Jacket. The P41 had three sewn on flapless pockets, while the P44 has a flap over the breast pocket where the EGA is. The waist pockets were replaced with two large slit pockets that cover the entire chest area, where life preservers can be inserted. The front of the P44 also has inner and outer closure buttons for a more secure fastening, required if used as a life preserver.
